X-Rays

Dental X-rays serve as an essential diagnostic tool, providing your dentist with information that otherwise would be impossible to ascertain. Dental X-rays deliver radiation at very low doses which is localized to the area of the dental film. Dental X-rays may be required at your first visit to our practice, if you present with an emergency dental complaint, or periodically to compare to baseline records. Several types of dental X-rays are available and are all used for different purposes. Information obtainable from such films include an overview of the jaw and jaw joint, bone levels surrounding the teeth, areas of decay or infection associated with teeth and the surrounding bone, and the location or presence of teeth.

At the Melbourne Dental Group we use the latest in technology with digital radiographs. This ensures as minimal radiation exposure as possible, and maximises the diagnostic value of the radiograph.
